Junction and the lovely Llano River
supplied everyone with a beautiful weekend of fishing and
friendship. The town opened there doors to TWFF again and everyone
had a great time.
Friday started out shaky when it was
discovered the park we all normally meet at on Saturday was closed
due to bridge construction. Mary worked her magic to get the word
out to just about everyone about the change in our plans. Dos Rios
was gracious enough to allow us to use there conference room again
to all gather together. Rick Wilson of Fredericksburg came out to
join everyone at the Mullet Mixer and give tips on fishing and
kayaking the Llano.
Saturday was a gorgeous day (though hot)
and all set out to fish. Many decided to float down while others
choose to wade in various places. Walter and Susan Curry of South
Llano River Lodge offered the use of their facility for a lunch
stop. Many of us took advantage and fished along the banks of this
very beautiful place. At lunch, everyone gathered to talk about the
day thus far and to discuss what was working on the water. Walter
and Susan set up a delicious table of cookies, snacks, tea and fruit
salad. Some choose to pull out here, others continued on down to
Flat Rock low-water crossing.
Later Saturday evening, we all were
treated to a delicious dinner of fajitas, beans, corn bread and
margaritas at CAVU Canyon Ranch hosted by the Chamber of Commerce,
Debbie Kistler of the Junction Eagle, and CAVU Canyon. Better than
the food was the view and the company of 30+ TWFF members and new
found friends from Junction. A donation was made from the TWFF
members to the Junction Meals on Wheels as gratitude for the great
meal we were given. Roz brought many great items for the silent
auction that went very well also.
The fish were not jumping out of the
river for us but quite a few were caught including bass, sunfish,
and a few Rio Grande perch. The Llano was clear, cool, and
wonderful. The people and town of Junction were wonderful! Everyone
appeared to be having a grand time. All around this was a great
outing for all.
